South Korea's main opposition Democratic Party has submitted a motion to impeach Prime Minister Han Duck Soo and reported it to a plenary session of the National Assembly.
AFP/Xinhua and Yonhap reported on December 26 that South Korea's main opposition Democratic Party (DP) submitted a motion to impeach Prime Minister Han Duck Soo and reported it to the National Assembly's plenary session.
The move comes after Han Duck Soo refused to appoint a Constitutional Court judge to complete the process of removing his predecessor.
"We submitted the motion right before the plenary session and will report it today. We will put it to a vote tomorrow," Rep. Park Sung Joon told reporters at the National Assembly.
Previously, on December 26, Mr. Han Duck Soo announced that he would not appoint judges to the Constitutional Court until the opposition parties reached a political compromise.
Mr Han made the announcement in a public speech, amid mounting pressure from the main opposition party, demanding that he appoint three judges to the court or face impeachment.
