With a total score of 306 after 6 rounds of shooting, archer Nguyen Hoang Phi Vu of Hai Duong excellently won the 90m single-string bow event at Vietnam's highest archery tournament.
The 2024 National Archery Championship will take place from October 24-31 in Vinh Phuc. In the men's 90m single-string bow event, archer Nguyen Hoang Phi Vu of the Hai Duong archery team excelled over 13 other opponents to win the gold medal. This is the most difficult event, the longest distance in archery. After 6 rounds of shooting, Phi Vu won a total score of 306, 4 points more than the very strong opponent from Vinh Long, Le Quoc Phong, who came in second.
Although he is the first archer from Hai Duong in the Vietnamese archery team to participate in an Olympic event, the gold medal is the best achievement of this archer in the past 2 years, especially after the appearance of Korean expert Yeong Seo Yoon in the Hai Duong archery team. Phi Vu's above result is equal to his Olympic achievement.
In addition to the gold medal, Phi Vu won a silver medal in the men's 70m single-reed bow and is continuing to compete to improve his achievements.
In this tournament, in addition to Phi Vu, coach Nguyen Xuan Thanh of the Hai Duong archery team also has a series of other strong archers, especially the presence of a pair of brothers who are members of the national youth team, Pham Tran Bao Huy and Pham Tran Hoang. Pham Tran Hoang is the reigning champion of the National Sports Festival and the National Youth Archery Championship in 2024.
