The warning content clearly states that recently, in Hai Duong, there has been a situation of impersonating tax authorities through text messages, websites, and applications on mobile devices to defraud about tax authorization; calling taxpayers claiming to be tax officials to request support in installing tax industry applications on computers, mobile phones, and network-connected devices; inviting taxpayers to work, instructing them on tax exemption and reduction declarations on phones; inviting them to attend training sessions, selling documents, books, and legal publications on taxes, etc.

The scammer asked the taxpayer to provide some information such as the account to access the eTax Mobile tax payment application, tax code, citizen identification card, and business registration certificate. In addition, on social networking platforms, there has been a phenomenon of advertising online services about domain names and applications impersonating tax authorities to defraud about tax payment authorization. There was a case where the scammer impersonated a tax official and called people to instruct them to access the link "gdtgov.cfd" to download the fake tax authority application to update citizen identification card in the business registration file.

Hai Duong Provincial Tax Department affirmed that the above cases are impersonation and fraud for profit. The tax authority does not direct and does not organize the implementation of these contents. This unit warns businesses and people not to receive paid postal items related to tax legal documents. In case of doubt, taxpayers should contact the Provincial Tax Department, local tax branches for support via phone numbers (listed on the Electronic Information Pages of Tax Departments with the Vietnamese national domain name “.vn”).

In case of receiving messages via social networking platforms, unusual calls or signs of fraud related to the tax sector, taxpayers need to save evidence such as messages, phone numbers, call recordings and promptly report to the tax authority. Information related to the work of the Hai Duong Provincial Tax Department with taxpayers is publicly available at https://haiduong.gdt.gov.vn.
