To reach Lung Po flagpole, from the center of Lao Cai city, visitors travel about 107 km towards Bat Xat district, the road has many winding and tortuous sections. Arriving here, every Vietnamese person is filled with pride when seeing the national flag fluttering on the border.

Why was the flagpole named Lung Po? Lung Po is the name of a stream in Bat Xat district, dividing the watershed between Vietnam and China. Lung Po stream flows into the Red River at milestone 92, which is the first point where the Red River flows into Vietnam. Standing from the flagpole, you can clearly see the confluence of three rivers, one dark stream and one light stream merging together.

To reach the top of the flagpole, visitors must climb 125 spiral steps that are quite high and steep. Standing at this highest point, one can enjoy the majestic, vast view of the mountains and forests and the national flag fluttering in the wind. At this border of the country, officers and soldiers of the A Mu Sung border post are still protecting the country's borders and landmarks day and night.

This is not only a project to affirm national border sovereignty, to pay tribute to the heroes who fell for the independence and sovereignty of the Fatherland's borders, but also a place where every Vietnamese person comes to learn about history, appreciate the past and love the S-shaped land more.
