The Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI) has announced 26 candidates running for the presidency, including incumbent President Félix Tshisekedi, who is running for a second term. In a press release issued in the capital Kinshasa, CENI Chairman Dénis Kadima called on candidates to respect the law and electoral regulations during the month-long campaign.

Incumbent President Tshisekedi has decided to launch his campaign in the capital Kinshasa, where thousands of his supporters gathered at the city's stadium. Meanwhile, former Katanga governor Moïse Katumbi, head of an opposition coalition and President Tshisekedi's main rival, has chosen the city of Kisangani, in northeastern Democratic Republic of Congo, to launch his campaign.
