The Ministry of Public Security's Investigation Police Agency has issued a decision to prosecute and order the temporary detention of Mr. Nguyen Duy Hung, Chairman of Thuan An Group. Thuan An Company is one of three construction units of Dong Viet Bridge connecting the two provinces of Bac Giang and Hai Duong.
On April 15, Lieutenant General To An Xo, spokesman for the Ministry of Public Security, said that the Investigation Police Agency had decided to prosecute Mr. Nguyen Duy Hung, Chairman of Thuan An Group Joint Stock Company.
At the same time, the Investigation Agency also issued an order to temporarily detain Mr. Nguyen Duy Hung.
Mr. Hung, Chairman of Thuan An Group, is being investigated for violating bidding regulations causing serious consequences.
The Supreme People's Procuracy has approved the above decisions and procedural orders.
According to Lieutenant General Xo, Mr. Nguyen Duy Hung was arrested during the investigation of the case of "Violating regulations on bidding causing serious consequences; Giving bribes; Receiving bribes" by the Department of Police for Investigation of Crimes of Corruption, Economy, and Smuggling (C03) at Thuan An Group Joint Stock Company and related units and organizations.
In the same case, C03 decided to prosecute and temporarily detain Mr. Tran Anh Quang, General Director of Thuan An Group Joint Stock Company, for the crime of "Bribery".
Mr. Nguyen Khac Man, Deputy General Director of Thuan An Group, was prosecuted and temporarily detained by C03 for "Violating bidding regulations causing serious consequences" and "Receiving bribes".
The investigation agency also prosecuted and temporarily detained two officials of the Management Board of Investment and Construction Projects for Traffic and Agricultural Works in Bac Giang Province, including Nguyen Van Thao - Director of the Board and Dam Van Cuong - Deputy Director of the Board.
Both defendants are being investigated for "Violating bidding regulations causing serious consequences", while Mr. Thao is being investigated for the additional crime of "Receiving bribes".
After the Supreme People's Procuracy approved the above decisions and orders, C03 served the procedural decisions, executed the arrest warrant for temporary detention, and the search warrant for the above people to serve the investigation.
Lieutenant General Xo added that the Ministry of Public Security's Investigation Police Agency is currently focusing its forces, expanding the investigation, clarifying the violations of the defendants and wrongdoings at Thuan An Group Joint Stock Company and related units, organizations and individuals to strictly handle them according to the provisions of law and thoroughly recover assets.
Thuan An Group Joint Stock Company (Thuan An Group), formerly Thuan An Construction Development and Trading Joint Stock Company, was established in 2004 with Mr. Nguyen Duy Hung as chairman.
Thuan An's charter capital as of August 2020 is 300 billion VND, by January 2022 the charter capital will increase to 800 billion VND.
Thuan An Group is known as a corporation specializing in the field of investment and construction of technical infrastructure works, trading in electricity and renewable energy, and real estate trading and investment.
In recent years, Thuan An has continuously won dozens of construction contracts, including contracts worth several hundred billion VND.
As an independent contractor or a member of a joint venture, Thuan An is currently executing a series of packages in many provinces and cities across the country. Thuan An Construction Development and Trading Joint Stock Company is also one of the three contractors constructing the Dong Viet Bridge connecting the two provinces of Bac Giang and Hai Duong.
