People suffocated by smoke from burning apartment building were taken to the emergency room.

Many fire trucks and more than 20 firefighters arrived at the scene. Firefighters approached the source of the fire and coordinated with local forces to extinguish the fire after about 10 minutes. Police then searched the apartments for trapped people.

A representative of the People's Committee of Binh Chanh district said the fire started from a capacitor on the 3rd floor. The incident caused a security guard to faint after inhaling smoke and was taken to the emergency room. He is now conscious and in stable health.
