At the end of June, 10-year-old Nong Quang Anh completed a 30-day cycling journey, traveling to 4 capitals with a distance of more than 2,800 km.
This is not the 10-year-old boy's first long-distance bicycle trip. Quang Anh's father, Nong Quang Duy (Lang Son province), said that in the summer of 2022, the two of them had their first cross-country journey.

After the trip across Vietnam, both father and son came up with ideas for a more special journey. On this trip, in addition to preparing their health, planning their travel, and necessary paperwork, Quang Anh and his father had to learn more about the customs of each country to easily adapt when they arrived.
On International Children's Day, June 1, the father and son cycled from Lang Son province to Hanoi. They traveled along National Highway 1A to Cau Treo border gate (Ha Tinh province). Laos was the first country the father and son stopped to explore on this journey. On June 13, the father and son cycled to Thailand and arrived in Cambodia on June 23. The journey ended on June 30 in Ho Chi Minh City.
Quang Anh arrived in Laos on June 6.

Quang Anh said that although the plan was to travel more than 2,800 km, the father and son brought very simple luggage, including: 5 sets of clothes, a bicycle repair kit, inner tubes and a few personal items. "Cycling is very tiring but I feel very happy. Because my father is with me, I don't have any difficulties!" - Quang Anh smiled.
On average, the 10-year-old boy travels about 100 km per day, and in quiet areas he can cycle more than 120 km. As someone with a lot of experience in cycling, Mr. Duy said he always observes his son very carefully on every route. "His health is the top priority," the father emphasized.
"Along the way, dad taught me many good things. Thank you very much" - Quang Anh shared
In addition to visiting famous landmarks such as: Vientiane Library, Wat Hosantinimit, Patuxai Triumphal Arch (Laos); Royal Palace, Sanam Luang Square, Khao San Walking Street (Thailand); Neak Loeung Bridge, Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum (Cambodia), Quang Anh also had the opportunity to experience the culture, customs and traditions, and enjoy new dishes from different countries.
Sharing the idea of the trip, Mr. Duy said he wanted to spend a meaningful summer with his child. "I could have taken my child on a trip by car, but that would not give him the same real experience as cycling. When cycling, all the surrounding scenery appears before his eyes. He can smell the fragrant ripe rice of the fields, stopping at any point he likes," Mr. Duy said.

The 39-year-old father proudly said: "After each trip, I see my son become more mature. He is confident, knows how to handle problems, and knows how to help people in difficult circumstances."
Each photo is a priceless memory of the father and son. Even though the trip has ended, Quang Anh still occasionally hums a familiar song while cycling: "Ho do ta nao! Pull the cannon over the pass. Ho do ta nao! Pull the cannon over the mountain"
On July 3, after conquering a journey of more than 2,800 km, the father and son boarded the train, traveling from Ho Chi Minh City to Lang Son.
Mr. Duy said he does not encourage other parents to do the same. "Parents should spend time with their children; talking and playing are ways to understand them better. Children's summer will be more meaningful if they have their parents as friends," Mr. Duy shared.
