It is currently the time of changing seasons, the weather and humidity change erratically, making it difficult for the body to adapt, creating conditions for viruses and bacteria that cause respiratory diseases to thrive.
Children are susceptible to illness when the weather changes. In the photo: A doctor at Hai Duong Children's Hospital examines a child with pneumonia.
Respiratory diseases are the most common diseases such as flu, rhinopharyngitis, pharyngitis, bronchitis, pneumonia and recurrence of chronic diseases such as bronchial asthma, obstructive pulmonary disease or chronic cardiovascular disease.
People susceptible to diseases during the changing seasons
Children: For most children, the immune system is not yet fully developed, resistance is weak, and they are susceptible to infection during the changing seasons. When children get sick, the disease is more severe than adults.
Elderly: Elderly people often have chronic diseases such as respiratory diseases, diabetes, high blood pressure, cardiovascular diseases, liver failure, kidney failure, which weaken the immune system. Therefore, diseases in the elderly are often much more severe than in young people. Changes in weather can easily trigger existing diseases in the elderly.
Pregnant women: When sick in the first 3 months of pregnancy, it is very easy to cause birth defects. Even when sick, pregnant women are often reluctant to take medicine because they are afraid of affecting the fetus, causing the illness to last longer and the body to be tired. Therefore, disease prevention is a priority for pregnant women.
Some ways to prevent
Keep your body healthy by increasing physical activity to improve your physical condition. Eat a variety of nutrients to increase your resistance, especially foods rich in vitamins; green vegetables, fresh fruits. Get vaccinated against influenza. Maintain personal hygiene, keep your house airy, and keep it dust-free.
People should cover their nose and mouth when coughing or sneezing. If you use your hands to cover your mouth, wash them with soap. Wear a mask and avoid crowded places when there is an epidemic. Keep your body warm if the temperature drops, especially in the morning and evening.
When the weather is humid, people with weak resistance such as the elderly and children are often susceptible to illness. In the current humid weather conditions, people need to pay attention to cleaning and keeping their homes well-ventilated. Dry the living space by using air conditioning, dehumidifiers, do not hang wet clothes indoors, use dry towels to wipe the floor. Clothes are difficult to dry completely when the humidity is too high, so if possible, use a dryer or iron before wearing, to avoid mold and skin diseases.
People with chronic diseases need to follow their doctor's instructions, maintain their prescriptions and take good disease control measures to prevent environmental factors from triggering the disease. If you notice any unusual symptoms, you should contact your doctor immediately for advice.
