Since September 16, some Vietnamese users have been able to use the anonymous comment feature in Facebook groups.
On September 16, the Vietnamese Facebook community was delighted to discover that the anonymous commenting feature in Groups had been updated for certain accounts. In a post by the WhiteHat group with more than 60,000 members, under a post related to this feature, many people immediately tested it in the comment section and were delighted to discover that this update was not fake news at all.
As you can see in the comments section, each user’s account will be numbered for easy identification. However, not all Groups support this feature, only those that have enabled the feature to allow anonymous posting. In addition, not all accounts will experience this update right away, but as always, Facebook will gradually expand the new feature to each account.
Enabling this feature is also very easy. First, make sure you have the latest version of Facebook installed if you are using it on your phone. Next, select any Group that allows anonymous posting and go to a post, tap on the comment section.
Here, you will see an avatar icon on the left of the comment bar. Clicking on the avatar, you can optionally switch to incognito mode.
One thing to note is that the admins of the Groups will still see the anonymous account information as usual, and the anonymity only applies to other members or outsiders. Thus, this feature can be considered an extension of the previously popular anonymous posting feature, but instead of only being able to comment anonymously on their own posts, users can now comment anonymously on other people's posts.
Allowing anonymous comments has some users concerned about "hidden criticism" or cyberbullying. However, the fact that Group admins can still see account information as usual can somewhat limit extreme behavior - of course, the effectiveness of this will depend on the ability of the Group administrator.
