The Drug Administration of Vietnam (Ministry of Health) said that all products labeled as Clorocid TW3 tablets (Cloramphenicol 250mg), registration number: VD-25305-16, manufacturer: Central Pharmaceutical Joint Stock Company 3, with production dates from September 15, 2019 to present, are counterfeit drugs.

In addition, the products labeled as Tetracycline TW3 tablets (Tetracycline hydrochloride 250mg), registration number: VD-28109-17, packaged in bottles of 400 tablets, manufacturer: Central Pharmaceutical Joint Stock Company 3, with production dates from January 1, 2021 to present, are also counterfeit drugs.

This move was made because the Drug Administration received reports that the above-labeled drug samples had test results that did not meet quality standards for qualitative, quantitative and solubility indicators.

Furthermore, Central Pharmaceutical Joint Stock Company 3 also reported in writing that from September 16, 2019 to present, it has not produced any batch of Clorocid TW3 tablets (Cloramphenicol 250mg), Registration number: VD-25305-16; from January 1, 2021 to present, it has not produced any batch of Tetracyclin TW3 tablets packaged in bottles of 400 tablets.

The Drug Administration of Vietnam requests local health departments and health sectors to notify not to trade or use the above products.

The Department also requested the units to direct and strengthen the inspection and examination (periodically and suddenly) of the implementation of professional regulations on pharmaceuticals of establishments producing, trading and using drugs in the area; promptly detect, prevent and strictly handle cases of trading in counterfeit drugs, drugs of unknown origin, smuggled drugs, drugs purchased and sold without valid invoices and documents.

Direct the testing center to increase sampling and quality control of drugs circulating in the area for drugs at risk of quality violations; promptly report detected cases to the Department of Health and relevant authorities.

Clorocid TW3 and Tetracycline TW3 tablets are both antibiotics used to treat bacterial infections.

In mid-July, a series of tablets named Cefuroxim 500mg, Cefodoxim 200mg, Cefixin 200mg, Cefixim 100mg, Fluconazol 150mg... were discovered on the market and were determined to have fake manufacturer labels.
