Pravda (Ukraine) on August 2 quoted Polish Deputy Foreign Minister Paweł Jabłoński as saying that Kiev's relations with Warsaw "have not been the best (recently)" due to some comments by Ukrainian government officials.

Speaking in an interview with Polish radio station RMF, Mr. Jabłoński noted that there are many issues on which Poland and Ukraine "cannot agree."

The representative of the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs also mentioned the upcoming meeting with the representative of the Embassy of Ukraine.

"The discussion will be frank and specific. We will inform Poland's assessment of the current state of relations with Ukraine. Unfortunately, based on recent comments by some representatives of the Ukrainian authorities, (relations between the two sides) are not the best at the moment. No one hides this," Jabłoński said.

According to Mr. Jabłoński, the Ukrainian representatives "expressed some [excessive] emotions", but Poland "ignored" it because Ukraine was under attack (from Russia). The Polish Deputy Foreign Minister added that Ukraine "should not criticize its allies and partners either".

"We follow a policy of Polish national interests. We support Ukraine to the extent that it is in Poland's national interests. This has always been the case and will always be the case," the Polish diplomat said.

Earlier on August 1, Polish Ambassador to Ukraine Bartosz Cichocki was summoned to the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry in Kiev over accusations made by Marcin Przydacz, head of the International Policy Office of Polish President Andrzej Duda.

In an interview with Polish media, Mr Przydacz argued that Ukraine has received a lot of support from Warsaw and that the country "should appreciate the role that Poland has played for Ukraine in recent months and years". The Polish official's comments came amid the situation regarding the blocking of Ukrainian grain exports through Poland.

Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki criticized Kiev's decision to summon the Polish ambassador to the Foreign Ministry over Przydacz's remarks. In response, Poland summoned Ukraine's ambassador to Warsaw, Vasyl Zvarych, in protest.
