Fooled by fake officials?

The story of people being scammed by impersonators shows that they not only lack knowledge and lose faith in themselves, but also lose faith in officials and the strictness of the law.

Recently, information about an old man, an old woman, a young man somewhere being or almost being scammed out of hundreds of millions of dong by a person impersonating a police officer or prosecutor has appeared continuously in the press.

Right in Hai Duong, in October, there were at least 3 cases in Gia Loc and 1 case in Binh Giang that were prevented in time from falling into the above scam trap. The least person almost lost 130 million VND, the most person almost lost 650 million VND. In Hai Duong City, there were also people who were called by the scammer to "use tricks" like that.

The scammers’ tricks are not new, and have been warned by the police many times. They pretend to be police officers or prosecutors, calling people to inform them that their phone number or ID card has been used to register a bank account and that this account contains illegal money that is being investigated by the authorities. To avoid being involved or affected, you need to transfer all the money in the account to a new bank account provided by them and not tell anyone about this…

Many cases brought to trial recently show that scammers also impersonate land officials, people with positions and power in the state agency system to "run jobs", "run cases", make "red books"...

Unfortunately, there are still many people who fall into their trap.

I often wonder, what is the first reaction of an honest, decent businessman when he hears that he is involved in a case or illegal business that he does not know about or participate in?

If they have confidence in themselves and knowledge, they will not believe what the impostor says. If they do not believe, they will have to find a way to verify and clarify whether it is true that they have a bank account as they say. If so, how will they be affected according to the law? Is the person calling really a police officer or prosecutor from unit A, B, C… or not?

When faced with a person who is sober, rational and knowledgeable, the scammer will not stand a chance. A colleague of mine recently received a scam call and patiently listened and exposed the contradictions and inaccurate information that the person impersonating a Hai Duong police officer said over the phone, causing the subject to angrily hang up.

However, in reality, many people do not have enough confidence when receiving information from scammers. Not only do they not believe in themselves, but they also do not have faith in the strictness of the law, in the integrity of officials. This is the worrying problem, an opportunity for scammers to take advantage of. Most people who have been scammed or almost scammed believe that once they get involved in cases, illegal business stories, there is a high risk of being arrested for investigation, even going to jail. They also believe that following the scammers' instructions will give them a chance to "escape". Believing in the scammers' tricks also means losing faith in officials, losing faith in justice.

The impersonation of officials to commit fraud raises many issues of concern. That is the leakage of personal information, falling into the hands of fraudsters. That is the race of many banks in opening accounts leading to the situation where some people do not know, do not remember how many bank accounts they have, open accounts but do not use them, creating loopholes for fraudsters to take advantage of. That is the negativity in state agencies, law enforcement agencies still exist as an excuse for the tricks of fraudsters.

Propaganda and warnings about fraud are not enough. The above issues need to be thoroughly resolved so that no one will fall into the trap of fake officials.
