On April 16, according to the Criminal Police Department of Nghe An Province Police, the unit has just prosecuted and temporarily detained Tran Thi Thuy (born in 1980, registered in Ward 9, Go Vap District, Ho Chi Minh City), temporarily residing in Hung Trung Commune, Hung Nguyen District, Nghe An Province for fraud and property appropriation.
According to the investigation, Tran Thi Thuy did not have a stable job and no degree, but Thuy informed the victims that she was a lawyer in order to defraud and appropriate property.
In Nghe An, Thuy applied to cooperate with a number of law firms to hold the title of "Communications Director, Deputy Branch Manager" to promote the image of the law firms, but in fact, she took advantage of the name to commit fraud.
Thuy "boasted" of having relationships with leaders and officials of state agencies, promising to help suspects and defendants get bail, receive suspended sentences, reduce prison sentences, or even just impose administrative penalties, thereby defrauding and appropriating property. To gain trust from victims, Thuy also regularly posted pictures of her participating in charity activities on social networks, attending court hearings, events, etc.
After a period of monitoring, collecting documents and evidence, on April 2, the Criminal Police Department of Nghe An Province Police arrested Thuy for the crime of "Fraudulent appropriation of property".
At the police station, Tran Thi Thuy admitted to her crime. Initially, the police determined that from October 2023 to January 2024, Thuy and a number of other subjects had defrauded 8 victims in Vinh City and Nghi Loc District, appropriating more than 2 billion VND.
Currently, the Criminal Police Department of Nghe An Province Police is continuing to expand the investigation. At the same time, it is informed that anyone who is a victim of Tran Thi Thuy should report to the Criminal Police Department of Nghe An Province Police for coordination and resolution.
