Nguyen Minh Duc was sentenced to 12 years and 6 months in prison for "fixing a case" fraud by the People's Court of Hai Duong province.

On the morning of February 6, the People's Court of Hai Duong province held a first-instance trial and sentenced Nguyen Minh Duc (born in 1978, residing in Lam Ha ward, Kien An district, Hai Phong city) to 12 years and 6 months in prison for fraud and property appropriation.

On April 8, 2022, Dinh Hai Yen (born in 1988) was prosecuted and temporarily detained by the Investigation Police Agency of Hai Duong Province Police for organizing gambling and gambling. Yen was then tried and sentenced to 5 years and 9 months in prison.

Because he wanted his wife to be released on bail and later receive a suspended sentence, Yen's husband, Mr. L., asked for help. Through many introductions, Mr. L. contacted Duc, who informed him that he had many connections and could "take care of things" to get Yen released on bail and receive a suspended sentence.

Because he trusted Duc, from April 18, 2022 to May 24, 2022, Mr. L. transferred a total of 950 million VND to Duc to "take care of things", but Duc did not fulfill his commitment but instead appropriated and used it for personal expenses and debt repayment.

In May 2023, Duc was sentenced to 3 years in prison by the People's Court of Lang Son province for illegally transporting goods across the border.

The jury sentenced Nguyen Minh Duc to 12 years and 6 months in prison for fraud and property appropriation.
