The banyan tree in the Kim Anh Martyrs Cemetery (Kim Thanh) was recognized as a heritage tree in early April 2024. The tree is over 10 m tall and has many branches, so it needs to be pruned to ensure safety.

On the afternoon of June 3, due to heavy rain and strong winds, a 300-year-old heritage Bodhi tree in Hamlet 5, Hai Ninh Village, Kim Tan Commune (Kim Thanh) was uprooted and fell. The main reason was that the Bodhi tree trunk and top were heavy, the tree roots were exposed, and the tree had poor grip on the ground, and it fell due to heavy rain and strong winds. Fortunately, the tree did not cause any accidents when it fell.

In Kim Thanh district and many localities in Hai Duong province, there are currently many heritage trees and ancient trees with an average age of 200 - 400 years. Many trees have large trunks, wide canopies, and are 10 - 20 m high. However, many places have not paid attention to cutting and pruning branches and leaves periodically, especially during the rainy and stormy season for heritage trees and ancient trees, causing a very high risk of trees breaking and falling.

Localities are requested to pay attention to protecting old trees. For old trees, measures should be taken to reinforce them to prevent them from falling, and warning signs should be placed to help people avoid accidents.
