The Michelin Guide rates Hanoi as a vibrant, sophisticated, modern city rich in history and culture. Hanoi's streets are crowded, filled with vehicles and street vendors.

Hanoi also has tranquil lakes and ancient temples. The Old Quarter with its tree-lined streets, old architecture and sidewalk cafes is a must-see for tourists.

Experience Hanoi in 48 hours written by Joshua Zukas, Michelin Guide reviewer specializes in researching Vietnam tourism. He has spent many years studying the culture, country and people of the S-shaped land.

Day 1: Immerse yourself in the flavors of pho and explore the capital

According to Joshua's suggestion, on the morning of the first day, visitors should walk around Hoan Kiem Lake and enjoy beef pho from a restaurant on Au Trieu Street, famous for its rich broth, simmered from beef bones for 10 hours.

This is an address highly rated by Michelin Guide in the Bib Gourmand list (good food quality, affordable prices) in Hanoi.

“Hanoi not only impresses with its attractive street food but also has many other interesting destinations,” the article noted.

Afternoon is a good time for tourists to visit Bach Ma Temple or Thuoc Bac Street, places that still preserve the traditional beauty and culture of old Hanoi.

To end the first day, visitors should enjoy the famous fish cake dish in a restaurant located in an ancient house that is more than a century old on Duong Thanh street.
