The first black and Asian woman to win a major party's nomination, Kamala Harris will formally be awarded the nomination at the Democratic convention in Chicago later this month.
US Vice President Kamala Harris has officially won the Democratic Party's nomination for president, facing Republican candidate Donald Trump in the November election.
Ms Harris, 59, was the sole candidate in a five-day online vote of nearly 4,000 Democratic delegates.

The nomination win comes as Ms Harris prepares to hit the campaign trail next week with a tour of seven key states alongside the yet-to-be-declared Democratic vice presidential nominee.
