Mr. Bui Huu Trong contributed to building a strong militia force in Thanh Lang commune (Thanh Ha).

After graduating from high school in February 2004, Bui Huu Trong (born in 1985) joined the military and enlisted at the Hai Duong Provincial Military Command. “The 2 years of military service were of great significance to me. Here I was trained, acquired political, military, cultural and social knowledge and good skills, and trained myself to serve my future work,” said Trong.

In 2006, Mr. Trong was discharged from the army and returned to his hometown, joined the militia and self-defense force in the commune, and became Secretary of the village Youth Union. In 2008, he was appointed as the Platoon Leader of the Commune Mobile Militia. With his efforts and enthusiasm in his work, in 2015, he was appointed as Commander of the Thanh Lang Commune Military Command.

Promoting the qualities of a soldier, Mr. Trong proactively advised the Party Committee and the People's Committee of the commune to issue leadership documents and direct the effective implementation of the work of the militia and self-defense force, national defense and security education and civil defense. In addition, he also effectively advised the Party Committee and the government in leading and directing the implementation of regimes and policies for the militia and self-defense force, reserve mobilization, and military rear policies...

Identifying the selection and calling of citizens to join the army as an important task of the locality, Mr. Trong advised the Commune Party Committee to issue a specialized Resolution on military recruitment and to perfect the Military Service Council; coordinate the review of citizens of military age, especially those aged 18-25. The Military Command coordinated well with the Party cells in charge of each residential area and the number of citizens of military age to encourage, monitor and assist.

Thanks to good education and propaganda work, in recent years, Thanh Lang commune always has 7-10 young people volunteering to join the army. In 2024, Thanh Lang commune assigned 17 young people to join the army, exceeding the assigned target by 21.4%.

With the determination to create changes and improve the training quality of the militia and self-defense force, Mr. Trong is the core in advising local Party committees and authorities, proactively implementing training preparation work, and closely maintaining the approved training plan.

Thanks to that, the training of militia forces always ensures the number of troops, 100% meeting the requirements, of which the good and excellent rate is from 75 - 85%.

Regarding combat readiness, the Commander of Thanh Lang Commune Military Command has focused on directing the mobile militia platoon to strictly implement the combat readiness regime; closely coordinate with the police force to organize patrols and controls to ensure political security and social order and safety.

Mr. Trong also actively advised and organized forces to participate in competitions, sports, and drills and achieved high results. Notably, in 2016, at the Militia and Self-Defense Sports Festival organized by Thanh Ha district, the Thanh Lang Commune Mobile Militia Platoon won second prize overall. In 2019, Thanh Lang Commune had 3 comrades selected by the Provincial Military Command to participate in the Military Region-level National Defense Sports Festival, of which 1 comrade was selected by Military Region 3 to compete overall. The results of the annual drills were always good and excellent.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Cong Truong, Deputy Political Commissar and Chief of Political Affairs of Thanh Ha District Military Command commented: "Comrade Bui Huu Trong is dynamic, enthusiastic and responsible in his work, always proactively advising the local Party Committee, government and district military agencies on many effective solutions in leading and directing the implementation of local defense and military tasks."

With his efforts, enthusiasm, and outstanding results in his work, Mr. Trong has received many certificates of merit. On March 24, Mr. Trong was awarded a certificate of merit by the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee for his outstanding achievements in building the militia and self-defense force on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the Traditional Day of the Vietnam Militia and Self-Defense Force (March 28, 1935 - March 28, 2025). For many years, he has been a grassroots emulation soldier.
