Meaningful gifts, tickets filled with affection... are practical activities of trade unions at all levels with the desire to bring "Happy Tet - Peaceful Spring" to workers and laborers.
Chairman of the Provincial Labor Federation presents Tet gifts to workers and laborers in difficult circumstances
Charity bus ticket
Last year, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hue, from Thanh Hoa, a worker at Formostar Vietnam Garment Company Limited (Hai Duong City), could not return home due to the pandemic, so this year she decided to visit her family. Having received a bus ticket worth 450,000 VND from the Hai Duong City Labor Federation, Ms. Hue happily said: "Every year, the union gives gifts and also supports bus tickets for workers living far away to return home for Tet. We don't have to buy anything else, now we just bring money back to our parents."
Like Ms. Hue, many workers far from home have been supported by the grassroots union in coordination with the enterprise to buy bus tickets. In some places, the union consulted with the enterprise owner to let workers and laborers far from home stop working before December 23 to return to their hometown. In previous years, when there was no Covid-19 epidemic, many enterprises arranged buses to take workers and laborers home for Tet and then pick them up to work, but in the past 2 years, due to the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic, the enterprise owner has changed the method, if anyone returns home for Tet, they will be supported with bus tickets. Although this Tet, the policy of many places is to encourage workers to celebrate Tet at their place of residence, limiting their return to their hometown due to the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic, if workers wish to return, the union still encourages enterprises to support bus tickets.
Along with supporting bus tickets for workers far from home, with the motto "No one is left behind", trade unions at all levels in the province have had many exciting and practical activities to support workers in difficult circumstances.
Receiving a Tet gift package presented by the leaders of the Provincial Federation of Labor and the Thanh Mien District Federation of Labor, Ms. Nguyen Thi Lac, a worker at GFT Unique Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Thanh Mien), was very moved. Ms. Lac's family is in a difficult situation. Since her husband suffered a stroke, the burden of making a living has been on her shoulders. Currently, she also has to take care of her elderly mother... Ms. Lac said: "Tet is supposed to be a joy, but for my family, there are many things to worry about. I go to work alone and take care of my husband and my sick elderly mother. Luckily, every year the union takes care of us."
Bring joy to workers
As one of 155 workers of Namyang Delta Co., Ltd. (Dai An Industrial Park Expansion, Hai Duong City) who unfortunately contracted Covid-19, Mr. Luong Van Dung (from Thanh Hoa) is being treated at a medical facility located at Hai Duong University. Because he is being treated for Covid-19, he may not be able to return home to celebrate Tet with his parents. These days, Mr. Dung feels more and more the attention of trade unions at all levels for workers. He is provided with many necessities and every time he uses them up, he reports to the union that he will receive more support. "A piece of food when hungry is worth a package when full. We are very touched and feel warmer because of the care, especially when the traditional Tet holiday is approaching," Mr. Dung said. According to Mr. Hoang Duy Kha, Chairman of the Trade Union of Namyang Delta Co., Ltd., the union always keeps an eye on workers and laborers who are F0, F1 and are being treated and quarantined. For workers who cannot return home for Tet, the union will regularly call to encourage, visit and support them in completing procedures to receive subsidies according to Government regulations.
This year, most grassroots unions have proposed that business owners develop a plan for Tet holidays early to inform workers to proactively work and arrange time to return home. 100% of businesses with trade unions have completed paying December salaries, Tet bonuses and giving Tet gifts to workers.
With the active participation of trade unions at all levels, up to now, 423 enterprises have awarded the 13th month salary to workers and laborers. Mr. Pham Dinh Hoa, Chairman of the Trade Union of Tinh Loi Garment Company Limited, said that this year all employees of the company have been awarded the 13th month salary. According to Mr. Hoa, sharing love and spreading beauty work is one of the measures of enterprises to stabilize the labor force and not interrupt production.
This year, the Provincial Federation of Labor and all levels of trade unions have reviewed, subsidized, and given Tet gifts and bus tickets to 5,645 union members and workers in difficult circumstances with a total amount of 3.72 billion VND. The whole province has 197 grassroots trade unions coordinating with business owners to give gifts to thank workers, organize year-end parties, draw prizes, commend and reward collectives and individuals with high achievements in work with a total amount of 53.8 billion VND.
