The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has approved the entire list of 50 players in the preliminary list sent by the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) on December 12. This includes goalkeeper Filip Nguyen.

On the afternoon of December 13, AFC informed VFF about the approval of the preliminary list of players for the 2023 Asian Cup. In particular, AFC noted the case of goalkeeper Filip Nguyen because this is a special name of the Vietnam team.
AFC must review again before responding to VFF. Just one day after sending the preliminary list of 50 players, VFF received feedback that all 50 players can compete in the 2023 Asian Cup in Qatar.
Filip Nguyen was once called up to the Czech national team to prepare for tournaments under the European Football Federation. Therefore, his profile needs to be confirmed by relevant management agencies.
VFF asked the Czech Football Federation (FACR) to confirm that Filip Nguyen had never played, and FACR responded in writing. After obtaining Vietnamese citizenship, Filip Nguyen was added to the preliminary list.

Thus, Filip Nguyen is fully qualified to play in the 2023 Asian Cup if coach Philippe Troussier gives him the opportunity. The goalkeeper born in 1992 is no longer entangled in any procedures.
On December 6, Filip Nguyen was recognized as a Vietnamese citizen.
A few days later, he went to the Consular Department to receive his passport and get a citizen identification card with the Vietnamese name "Nguyen Filip".
VFF is expected to announce a list of about 35 players for the training session from December 28. After that, coach Troussier will withdraw the list for the 2023 Asian Cup. Filip Nguyen is expected to be included in this plan.
The 2023 Asian Cup is scheduled to take place from January 10, 2024 in Qatar. Vietnam is in Group D with Japan, Indonesia and Iraq.
