13:00 June 28, closed 1 bottom spillway gate of Tuyen Quang hydroelectric reservoir

At 9:00 a.m. on June 28, the upstream water level of Tuyen Quang Lake was at 109.95 m; the inflow to the lake was 956 m3/s; the discharge was 1,786 m3/s.

Implementing the inter-reservoir operation process on the Red River basin in Decision No. 740/QD-TTg dated June 17, 2019 of the Prime Minister and the Prime Minister's direction in Official Dispatch No. 57/CD-TTg dated June 10, 2024, the National Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control ordered the Director of Tuyen Quang Hydropower Company to close 1 bottom spillway gate of Tuyen Quang reservoir at 1:00 p.m. on June 28.

Tuyen Quang Hydropower Company closely monitors the developments of floods and rains, construction safety, flow to the reservoir, upstream and downstream water levels of the reservoir, and promptly reports to the National Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control and relevant agencies as prescribed.

On the same day, the Standing Office of the National Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control issued Document No. 259/VPTT to the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control and Search and Rescue of the provinces and cities of Tuyen Quang, Phu Tho, Vinh Phuc, and Hanoi on ensuring downstream safety when operating Tuyen Quang Hydropower Reservoir.

Implementing the inter-reservoir operation process on the Red River basin in Decision No. 740/QD-TTg dated June 17, 2019 of the Prime Minister and Official Dispatch No. 07/CD-QG at 9:30 a.m. on June 28 of the National Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, ordering the Director of Tuyen Quang Hydropower Company to close 1 bottom spillway gate of Tuyen Quang reservoir at 1:00 p.m. on June 28.

To ensure the safety of works and activities along the river, the Standing Office of the National Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control requests the Steering Committees for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control and Search and Rescue of the above provinces and cities to notify authorities at all levels, people, and organizations operating on rivers and along rivers to proactively take measures to ensure safety and adjust activities accordingly; do not let people go to areas at risk of landslides or works under construction to avoid unfortunate losses, and promptly report unusual situations to the National Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control.

Previously, on June 15, the National Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control issued Official Dispatch No. 04/CD-QG to the Director of Tuyen Quang Hydropower Company regarding the opening of another bottom spillway gate of Tuyen Quang Lake at 1:00 p.m. on June 15 (Tuyen Quang Hydropower had fully opened two bottom spillways on June 11 and June 12).
