A factory area of thousands of square meters in Phuc Yen City was engulfed in flames, with smoke and flames hundreds of meters high, shining brightly on the night of July 4.
At around 9pm, a fire broke out at a packaging factory in Trung Nhi Ward, Phuc Yen City, quickly engulfing an entire area of thousands of square metres. The front of the factory is adjacent to a residential area on Tran Phu Street, and the back is a field.
The Fire Prevention and Rescue Police of Vinh Phuc province mobilized more than 10 fire trucks, tankers and dozens of soldiers to put out the fire.
At 10:40 p.m., the fire was still raging, threatening to spread to the row of houses next door. Hundreds of residents, along with police and soldiers, stood in a long line, passing belongings from house to house to the opposite side of the street, to prevent the fire from spreading.
At 11:30 p.m., firefighters had contained the fire in one corner of the factory, but smoke was still billowing from the opposite side. A witness said they heard many explosions, "after each explosion, the fire flared up, lighting up a corner of the sky."
The Fire Prevention and Rescue Command of Vinh Phuc province said that no human casualties have been recorded, and firefighting work has encountered many difficulties due to the flammable and high-heat objects inside, such as paper and foam boxes.
The cause of the fire has not been determined.
