On August 23, a representative of the Provincial Eye and Dermatology Hospital said that each day the hospital receives about 4-6 patients coming for examination and treatment of pink eye (conjunctivitis). Some children under 10 years old have shown severe symptoms, leading to complications of pseudomembrane.

According to Master, Doctor Tran Thi Tuyen, Head of the Examination and Emergency Department, this year pink eye appeared a lot in July and is still recording cases. Unlike previous years, this year the hospital recorded many children with pink eye with pseudomembrane, the main reason is that the family let the child get sick for a long time without going to the medical facility immediately. When the child has pseudomembrane, it will create a false membrane that is not permeable to eye drops, so it does not respond to treatment, causing corneal damage, large abscesses that can easily cause fungal infections... causing acute corneal necrosis.

Doctor Tuyen recommends that families with young children with pink eye should be examined early, not waiting too long until there is a pseudomembrane, swollen eyes, not knowing how and persistently applying medicine to children will cause complications leading to unfortunate consequences.
