Efforts to overcome difficulties

In 2023, with the efforts of both the company and its employees, Viet Tri Garment Joint Stock Company (Thanh Mien) overcame the storm and developed steadily. This company has not had to lay off workers, although there were times when workers worked less overtime and income sometimes decreased. The company's number of workers remained stable at 1,150 people, with an average income of about 8 million VND/person/month.

This result is due to the fact that the company's Board of Directors has continuously sought sources of goods to create jobs for workers. Many policies and regimes to attract workers have been promptly implemented by the company. Workers from Thanh Hoa who come to work will have their rent and food paid by the company, and will be provided with a car to take them home. Workers who have been with the company for 5 years or more will be given a savings book worth 20-30 million VND (depending on their position and productivity). Sharing the difficulties with the company, workers have been persistent even though their salaries were sometimes lower than normal.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Hang, Executive Committee member of the grassroots trade union, staff of the Administration - Human Resources Department of Viet Tri Garment Joint Stock Company, the more difficult the situation is, the more dialogue the enterprise has with the workers. During the year, the enterprise and the trade union organized 4 direct dialogues with the workers to listen to the thoughts, aspirations and initiatives of the workers to improve production. Thereby, the business owner, the grassroots trade union and the workers have shared with each other, united and developed together.

Workers in many businesses are being cared for and looked after during Tet in many ways.

Determining that taking care of workers during Tet is an important task, as soon as orders in 2023 decreased sharply, the staff and workers of GFT Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Tu Ky) proactively overcame difficulties. Due to difficulties in finding jobs, sticking with the business is still the choice of many workers. They accompany the business even when orders are few, work is idle, and income is low. Therefore, up to now, more than 5,000 workers of the company still have stable jobs even though they no longer work overtime as much as every year. Ms. Luong Thi Han, Vice President, Head of the Women's Union of GFT Vietnam Co., Ltd. said that the production situation has stabilized, so workers are less worried than in the middle of the year. "Compared to last year, this year's Tet bonus for workers is higher because the longer the seniority, the more bonus they get," said Ms. Han.

Like the above enterprises, many other enterprises have also overcome difficulties, mobilizing all resources to give employees Tet bonuses and Tet gifts. Although there are no complete statistics, but according to the situation from the Provincial Labor Federation, most enterprises with trade unions have Tet bonuses for employees. If there is no "13th month salary", they will pay seniority or give Tet gifts.

Workers of Nissei Technology Vietnam Co., Ltd. won an electric car in a lucky draw on the occasion of the year-end event, welcoming the new spring.

By January 8, many businesses had organized visits and given gifts to workers in many forms. Typically, Makalot Vietnam Garment Company Limited organized a lucky draw for workers with a total prize value of more than 2 billion VND. Nissei Vietnam Technology Company Limited spent more than 400 million VND for workers to draw lucky prizes. GFT Vietnam Company Limited gave nearly 200 Tet gifts to disadvantaged workers. Gifts such as electric cars, rice cookers, washing machines, water purifiers, etc. have practical meaning in life, making workers always eager and looking forward to each Tet holiday.

Mr. Pham Ba Hoanh, a worker at Makalot Vietnam Garment Company Limited, said that he was recently one of the 10 lucky people to win a lucky draw and receive a special prize of an electric car, so he was very happy. In addition to this prize, the company also gave a "13th month salary" bonus to all employees during Tet, so everyone was excited.

Ms. Vu Thi Nhieu, a worker at Viet Tri Garment Joint Stock Company, was very happy to be on the list to receive a savings book worth more than 30 million VND. This meaningful gift will be given on the occasion of the company's year-end party at the end of the lunar year. While waiting and looking forward, Ms. Nhieu just hopes that Tet will come sooner. Ms. Nhieu shared: "We have been informed that each person will receive a basic month's salary this Tet, and I will save the savings for when I have work. So I don't have to worry too much this Tet."

With the motto "All union members and workers have Tet", the Provincial Federation of Labor has directed unions at all levels to actively coordinate with business owners to take care of workers. Priority is given to union members in difficult circumstances, workers whose working hours have been cut, who are laid off, or who are underemployed. This year, the program "Tet Sum Vay - Xuan Chia Chia" will be organized by the Provincial Federation of Labor at the end of January. In this program, the Provincial Federation of Labor plans to directly support 350 union members in difficult circumstances with an amount of 1 million VND/person (including cash, gifts and money for train and bus tickets).
