After a period of "quietness", in March 2024, 47 small earthquakes with magnitudes ranging from 2.5 to 4 occurred nationwide.

Of the above earthquakes, 46 occurred in Kon Plong district, Kon Tum province; one earthquake occurred in My Duc district, Hanoi city.

Notably, the magnitude 4 earthquake that occurred on March 25 in My Duc district caused many areas to shake, especially high-rise buildings in some inner-city districts of Hanoi; people are worried.

The days with many earthquakes in March were: March 16 with 8 earthquakes; March 14 with 4 earthquakes; March 19 with 5 earthquakes; March 21 and 25 with 3 earthquakes.

Previously, in the first two months of 2024, the country experienced 25 earthquakes with magnitudes ranging from 2.5 to 4. Most of these earthquakes occurred in Kon Tum province.

Specifically, in February, there were 17 earthquakes in Kon Plong district (of which 9 earthquakes occurred on February 7 alone, the highest magnitude was 4).

A representative of the Institute of Geophysics (Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology) said that all earthquakes that occurred in the first 3 months of 2024 were small earthquakes. Usually, earthquakes with a magnitude of less than 5 pose little risk of natural disasters.

Earthquakes of magnitude 5-6 or higher are moderate earthquakes, with a high risk of natural disasters; 6 or higher are major earthquakes, with a very high risk of natural disasters.

According to the regulations on "earthquake and tsunami prevention and control regulations", when receiving news of earthquakes and tsunami warnings, People's Committees at all levels must notify the people in the area; organize evacuation instructions and mobilize local means to help people evacuate to safety while taking measures to ensure security and order in the area.

Upon receiving news of an earthquake or tsunami warning, all citizens in the affected area must proactively evacuate from the dangerous area to ensure safety.
