According to Sky News, Buckingham Palace announced on February 5 that King Charles III of the United Kingdom had been diagnosed with cancer.

Symptoms of cancer appeared soon after the 75-year-old King was treated for prostate enlargement.

A Buckingham Palace spokesman said: “His Majesty King Charles III has been receiving treatment for benign prostatic hyperplasia. It was during this intervention that a further concern was identified and subsequently diagnosed as a form of cancer. This second condition will be treated accordingly.”

Doctors have advised King Charles III to suspend all public activities. Buckingham Palace said King Charles III “remains entirely optimistic about his recovery and looks forward to returning to work as soon as possible."

According to Buckingham Palace, King Charles III chose to share his diagnosis to prevent speculation and hoped it would help the public understand more about those affected by cancer around the world.
