Nho and Tuan bought the 'magic weapon' for 250 million, brought it to the temple to conjure it up and sold it to superstitious people for 5 billion VND.
Colonel Nguyen Van Bon, Deputy Director of Dak Lak Provincial Police, said that the unit has initiated a case, prosecuted the accused, and temporarily detained for 4 months the couple Nguyen Anh Tuan (39 years old) and Nguyen Thi Nho (37 years old, residing in Thu Dau Mot City, Binh Duong Province) to investigate the act of taking advantage of religious practice to defraud and appropriate property.
At the police station, Tuan confessed that he and his wife had previously studied Buddhism and knew a little bit. In the future, if the victims needed to practice, Tuan and his wife would pass it on.
During that process, the couple created many gmail accounts to advise the victim to buy "magic weapons" to practice during their spiritual practice. The highest amount of "magic weapons" imported was 250 million, after the "magic" process, they sold them to the victim for 5 billion VND.
These items are sold widely on the market at very cheap prices, but Tuan and his wife exaggerate that they are very rare and hard to find because they are very old and have been blessed by many monks around the world. From there, they sell them to the victims at very high prices.
In addition, this couple also provided information about how the master and his wife had practiced to "attain the Tao and become immortals", had the ability to separate their souls to travel around the world, move objects with magical powers, and talk to the souls of the dead to help them attain nirvana.
To make the victims completely trust, Nho and Tuan hired someone to pretend to be the nun "Hoang Milan" to come to the temple to teach Buddhism and created many different gmail accounts to lure and force the victims to use objects for their practice.
Tuan and Nho hired Mr. T.D.M. to bury the objects in different locations in Ea Khal commune, Ea H'leo district. Tuan and Nho then told the victims that the master had moved these objects there using magic.
Tuan and Nho's couple also bought 6 hectares of agricultural land in village 3, Ea Khal commune (Ea H'leo district) and asked the victims to build an ancestral temple and 6 hermitages for religious practice.
The police identified the victims in the case as Mr. HVG and Ms. NTD, who previously lived in Hai Ba Trung District (Hanoi), then moved to Village 3, Ea Khal Commune, Ea H'leo District (Dak Lak) and Mr. NTL, who lived in Hai Ba Trung District (Hanoi) with a total amount of nearly 100 billion VND.
Of which, Mr. HVG and his wife had to sell 3 houses, transfer and dissolve 2 companies with a value of more than 50 billion VND.
During the emergency search, the police seized 10 land use right registration certificates; 3 savings cards worth nearly 12 billion VND; 1 car worth 2.7 billion VND, more than 100 million VND in cash; 2 motorbikes; many gold jewelry and hundreds of related religious objects.
