Authorities are urgently responding after a 10-meter-long section of the Lo River dike through Quyet Thang commune, Son Duong district (Tuyen Quang) broke.
On the evening of September 10, the People's Committee of Son Duong district confirmed that the Lo River dike section passing through Quyet Thang commune had broken due to rising river water. Currently, the dike patching work is being urgently deployed.
Accordingly, the broken dike section is about 10m long, bordering Hop Nhat commune of Doan Hung district, Phu Tho. Previously, there were signs of water leakage at this location, so the work of evacuating people in the affected area was carried out, with no human casualties.
In recent days, due to the influence of storm No. 3, heavy rain in Tuyen Quang province combined with Tuyen Quang Hydropower Plant opening all 8 bottom spillway gates has caused floodwaters on the Lo River to rise, causing inundation in many areas.
