The Covid-19 epidemic has gradually been controlled, and people's travel needs have increased again. This is a positive sign for passenger transport businesses to recover after a long period of limited operation.

The number of passengers has gradually increased again, bringing good news to passenger transport businesses.

crowded

Arriving at Hai Duong Station at 3:30 p.m. on May 3, the last day of the April 30 - May 1 holiday this year, we witnessed an increasing number of people arriving to catch the HP4 train to Hanoi. Unlike this time last year, the train waiting area at Hai Duong Station this year was packed with passengers, people preparing their belongings, and seeing each other off in a hurry. It is known that on May 3, there were more than 2,200 passengers from Hai Duong traveling on 7 trains on the Hai Phong-Hanoi route, 5 times more than on a normal day.

At Hai Tan Bus Station (Hai Duong City), the number of passengers is also much higher. Bui Quang Ngoc in Ngoc Chau Ward (Hai Duong City) is waiting for a bus to go to school after the holiday and said: "Unlike the deserted image at the beginning of the year when I got on the bus with only a few passengers and could freely choose a seat, from the beginning of April until now, people traveling by this means of transport have been quite crowded. To make it easier to travel, I have proactively arrived earlier to catch buses with fewer passengers." That is also the common mentality of many people in the province now that the epidemic has been controlled and passenger transport activities in the province have gradually recovered.

Although the number of passengers flocking to bus stations, bus stops, and train stations was quite large during the holidays, according to the reporter's observations, there was no chaos, and the roads around Hai Duong City were clear, ensuring traffic safety.

On the afternoon of May 3, many passengers departed from Hai Duong Station to take the train on the Hai Phong-Hanoi route.

Most vehicles are back in operation

The increasing number of passengers makes bus operators and transport business owners very excited. Mr. Nguyen Hai Hung, Director of Hai Hung Passenger Transport Automobile Joint Stock Company happily said that the transport situation of the unit is gradually recovering, the number of passengers is increasing. From March 31 to now, the enterprise has put into service from 8 to 15 buses No. 202 on the Hai Duong-Hanoi route, most of the buses are full, ensuring safety against the epidemic. "Previously, due to the impact of the epidemic, the price of gasoline increased, so we faced many difficulties. Now, we just hope to maintain good control and quickly push back the epidemic. At the same time, we hope that the price of gasoline will be stable so that passenger and cargo transport businesses can rest assured to gradually restore business and return to normal operations," Mr. Hung shared.

Not only the activities of long-distance transport enterprises have improved, but bus and taxi routes in Hai Duong have also "warmed up". Reporters' records show that at bus stops in Hai Duong City, there are quite a lot of passengers waiting for the bus. Mr. Do Viet Tuan, Director of Mai Linh Hai Duong Company Limited, said that the unit has recovered about 90% of its revenue per vehicle compared to the time before the epidemic. Currently, the company maintains 150 taxis, each vehicle runs an average of 8-9 passengers/day, during the peak period of the 4-day holidays of April 30 and May 1, each vehicle runs 12-15 passengers/day...

According to Mr. Vu Van Quyen, Director of Hai Duong Bus Station Management Joint Stock Company, passenger transport activities have basically recovered. However, the number of passengers is only 60-70%. The reason is not that passengers are worried about the epidemic anymore, but because the need to return to work is not high, many people still prioritize using personal vehicles.

The province currently has 156 fixed passenger transport routes, 281 vehicles traveling within the province and 110 vehicles traveling outside the province. In addition, there are 611 taxis and 1,582 contract vehicles... Most of the vehicles have resumed operation. In order to better serve the travel needs of the people and ensure traffic order and safety in the new normal conditions, especially during the 31st SEA Games, the Department of Transport has requested passenger transport enterprises to implement recovery plans and ensure capacity, quality and safety, strictly comply with the provisions of the law on traffic order and safety; promote the application of electronic ticket sales, improve service quality, publicly post ticket prices by route, time and type of service, and strictly comply with regulations on Covid-19 epidemic prevention.
