On April 5, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), in coordination with the Ukrainian Army, carried out a night attack on Russia's Morozovsk airbase.
According to the Kyiv Independent, a source said that this airbase is home to Su-34 fighter-bombers and Su-27 fighters. Russia uses these planes to bomb Ukrainian military positions and frontline cities.
During the attack, Ukraine destroyed at least six military aircraft and damaged eight more. In addition, about 20 Russian soldiers were killed or wounded.
“This is a particularly important operation that will significantly reduce the combat capabilities of Russian forces,” the source commented.
Russia has not yet provided any information about the above attack.
Earlier on April 5, Russia said Ukraine had carried out a large-scale drone attack in Russian regions. Russia claimed to have shot down 53 drones.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, most of the drones were shot down in Rostov province, where the Morozovsk air base is located.
According to information on Telegram, explosions were heard near the Morozovsk air base. In addition, there are also reports that explosions occurred near the Engels and Yeysk air bases, located in the Saratov and Krasnodar regions, respectively.
