"Half-way solutions" will not bring real peace, but will only prolong the war and cause further losses in lives and common values, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry asserted.

According to Pravda (Ukraine), in a strong statement on September 24, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry strongly opposed the idea of leaving part of Ukrainian territory under the control of the Russian Federation to end the war.

This position was published on the official website of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, which stressed that Ukraine does not accept any agreements involving the renunciation of territory or temporary occupation of any lands by Russia.

The statement by the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry came after Czech President Petr Pavel, in an interview with the New York Times, mentioned the possibility that some Ukrainian territories could come under temporary Russian control after the conflict ends.

Mr Pavel said Ukraine might have to accept a compromise, with some areas remaining under Russian control, in exchange for ending the conflict. He also warned that it could be dangerous to expect too much of a comprehensive Ukrainian victory in the short term.

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry stated that the country will continue to adhere to President Zelensky's "peace formula", in which the prerequisite is that "Russia must withdraw all troops from the sovereign territory of Ukraine within internationally recognized borders".

The ministry also affirmed that "half-hearted solutions" will not bring true peace, but only prolong the war and cause more losses in "life, freedom and common values".

Responding to criticism from Kiev, President Pavel explained that he did not oppose Ukraine's ultimate goal of restoring full territorial sovereignty, but he also warned about the time and cost involved in achieving it.
