'U23 Vietnam strives to achieve the best results in each match'

Speaking at the latest training session of U23 Vietnam, midfielder Nguyen Thai Son said that he and his teammates will try their best to achieve the best results at the 2023 AFC U23 Championship Finals.

The midfielder affirmed: "The immediate goal of the whole team is to strive to get the best results in each match, first to pass the group stage, then the further goals will come."

Qatar is 4 hours behind Vietnam, forcing the players to adjust their daily routines early due to changes in their biological rhythms.

Regarding this, Thai Son said that the time zone difference does not create significant effects and the players are gradually adapting to the new environment to be ready to enter the tournament.

“We are excited to adapt to the conditions in Qatar to prepare for the 2024 AFC U23 Championship Finals. The whole team is ready and working hard every day towards the tournament,” said the young player who joined the Vietnamese team at the Asian Cup in Qatar not long ago.

To prepare for the upcoming tournament, the Vietnam U23 team will have a friendly match with Jordan U23 at Qatar University Stadium at 1:00 a.m. on April 11 (local time).

This match is organized to serve the professional work of the two teams' coaching staff before the 2024 AFC U23 Championship Finals, so it will take place on an empty field and without media coverage.

This match is not only the last important test for U23 Vietnam before entering the tournament but also the basis for Coach Hoang Anh Tuan to finalize the competition list.

The Vietnam U23 team will travel to Qatar with 27 players. Therefore, Coach Hoang Anh Tuan will be forced to eliminate 4 players from the final list sent to the organizing committee.

Therefore, all players try their best to perform the coaching staff's requirements in each exercise, especially in the team-based competition when the coach puts each player in their best position during the training session.

At the 2024 AFC U23 Championship, Vietnam U23 is in Group D with Uzbekistan, Kuwait and Malaysia.

According to the schedule, the Vietnam U23 team will play its opening match against the Kuwait U23 team on April 17 at Saoud bin Abdulrahman Stadium.

Three days later, Coach Hoang Anh Tuan's team will face the Malaysian U23 team at Khalifa International Stadium.

The "Golden Star Warriors" group stage journey will end with a match against U23 Uzbekistan on April 23 at Khalifa International Stadium. U23 Uzbekistan is also considered the biggest challenge for U23 Vietnam in Group D.

The 2024 AFC U23 Championship Finals will take place from April 15 to May 3, 2024 in Qatar, promising to be very tense as this is also the tournament to determine Asian representatives to attend the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The three teams that finish first, second and third in the tournament will qualify directly for France. The fourth-placed team will face a CAF representative in a play-off for a place at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
