On September 28, Gia Lai Provincial General Hospital announced that it had received a case of drug shock leading to death (outside the hospital).
To avoid unfortunate deaths like the above, doctors recommend that people who have symptoms of pain or illness should go to medical facilities for treatment advice and take medication as prescribed by a doctor, especially for those who have a history of allergies to the ingredients of the medication.
According to his family, Mr. NVL (50 years old, residing in Ia Pior commune, Chu Prong district) had a history of allergies to Western medicine. On September 27, Mr. L had eye pain and eye discharge, so he went to the pharmacy in the commune to buy medicine. Mr. L took 4 types of medicine, the specifics of each medicine are unknown.
By the afternoon of the same day, he had a rash all over his body, suspected to be due to a drug allergy, so he went to the Commune Health Station for first aid. However, while going to the toilet, he fainted and then became unconscious. His family took Mr. L to the Emergency Department of the Provincial General Hospital at around 6:35 p.m. in a state of cardiac arrest, respiratory arrest, cold pale skin, dilated pupils, etc. Doctors determined that Mr. L had died outside the hospital, due to grade IV anaphylactic shock from an unknown type of Western medicine.
