The changing weather causes children's resistance to decrease, making them susceptible to hand, foot and mouth disease when exposed to pathogens. Furthermore, children going to school and being exposed to large crowds also increases the risk of contracting this disease.

Most children with hand, foot and mouth disease are hospitalized late after their parents buy medicine to treat their children at home but do not get better.
