The Veterans Association of Zone 3 and the Veterans Association of Nhi Chau Ward (Hai Duong City) presented 550 national flags and a portrait statue of President Ho Chi Minh to the soldiers and people of Truong Sa archipelago, through the Navy.
On the afternoon of December 20, the Veterans Association of Zone 3 and the Veterans Association of Nhi Chau Ward (Hai Duong City) held a ceremony to celebrate the 79th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army and the 34th anniversary of National Defense Day.
The Association presented 550 national flags and a portrait of President Ho Chi Minh to the soldiers and people of Truong Sa archipelago, through the Navy. This is the only association of the Hai Duong City Veterans Association presenting national flags to the soldiers and people of Truong Sa archipelago on this occasion.
Colonel Pham Van Tai (95 years old), Head of the Veterans Association of Zone 3, said that the cost of buying 550 national flags was contributed by veterans in the association. This is the third time the association has presented national flags to soldiers and civilians living and working in the Truong Sa archipelago.
The association hopes that the national flag presented by the veterans will accompany fishermen to go out to sea, fly over the outpost islands of the Fatherland, and join officers and soldiers in firmly holding their guns day and night to maintain the sacred sovereignty of the sea and islands.
Presenting national flags has been a widespread movement in many localities. In November 2023, Dong Hai International Company Limited (Thanh Mien District, Hai Duong) presented 1,000 national flags to fishermen in Cat Hai District (Hai Phong).
