Reopening the trial of Mr. Tran Qui Thanh and his son

After more than half a month of postponement, the High People's Court in Ho Chi Minh City reopened the trial of Mr. Tran Qui Thanh and his son following the appeal for a reduced sentence of both defendants.

Mr. Tran Qui Thanh's wife received more than 183 billion VND

Because the defendants are not liable for civil compensation, the Trial Panel (TAC) decided to return more than 183 billion VND to Ms. Pham Thi Nu (wife of Mr. Tran Qui Thanh).
Dr Thanh's boss gets 8 years in prison

On the morning of April 25, the People's Court of Ho Chi Minh City sentenced Mr. Tran Qui Thanh to 8 years in prison, Ms. Tran Uyen Phuong to 4 years in prison, and Ms. Tran Ngoc Bich to 3 years in prison but with a suspended sentence, all for the crime of abuse of trust to appropriate property.
