Two former directors of the Vietnam Register and 123 defendants have their prison sentences reduced.
Among the 137 defendants brought to trial, two former directors of the Vietnam Register, Dang Viet Ha and Tran Ky Hinh, and 123 other defendants had their prison sentences reduced.
Two former directors of the Registry Department asked for a reduced sentence after receiving heavy sentences for accepting bribes.
Mr. Dang Viet Ha and Tran Ky Hinh, former Director of the Vietnam Register, said that the 19 and 25 year prison sentences were too harsh, so they appealed.
Two former directors of the Vehicle Registration Department were sentenced to 19 and 25 years in prison.
The court assessed that Mr. Dang Viet Ha and Tran Ky Hinh committed the crime for personal gain, knowing that it would cause serious consequences, causing loss of people's trust... so they should be severely punished.
