The agreement was signed in Moscow and Beijing on January 31 this year. The agreement outlines the terms of cooperation in the supply of gas from Russia to China along the Far Eastern route, including the cross-border section of the pipeline across the Ussuri River near Dalnerechensk in Russia and Hulin in China. The document also regulates tax and customs issues, as well as the procedure for resolving any disputes that may arise.
According to the Russian Energy Ministry website, the opening of the Far East gas pipeline will increase the volume of natural gas supplied to China by 10 billion cubic meters per year. Earlier, Russia's Gazprom energy corporation said that after the project is completed, the volume of Russian gas exports to China will reach 48 billion cubic meters per year, including gas supplied via the Power of Siberia gas pipeline.
This agreement will contribute to the development of Russia's gas transportation system, as well as constructive economic and investment cooperation between the two countries in the energy sector.
