The above information was given by Mr. Trump in an interview with Fox News. Accordingly, Mr. Trump left open the possibility of resuming negotiations between the two countries through direct dialogue.

During Trump’s previous term, he and the North Korean leader held summits in Singapore (June 2018), Hanoi (February 2019) and at the truce village of Panmunjom on the inter-Korean border (June 2019). The US and North Korea also held nuclear talks in Stockholm, Sweden in October 2019, but discussions on denuclearization between the two countries made little progress.

In a series of speeches at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Trump also addressed the relationship between the US and China. He stressed the desire for “fairness” in trade relations with China, stating that the US seeks a level playing field and will not accept persistent trade imbalances.

The US President also mentioned his intention to hold nuclear disarmament talks with both China and Russia.

Mr Trump’s statements reflect his broader “America First” agenda, which includes reducing regulations, improving trade relations and supporting lower oil prices to help resolve global issues such as the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. He also reiterated his desire to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin soon to discuss ways to end the current conflict.
