Kuwait National News Agency (KUNA) reported on January 13 that Prime Minister Sabah al-Khalid al-Sabah submitted the Cabinet's resignation to King Nawaf al-Admed al Sabah.
A day earlier, Prime Minister Sabah al-Khalid al-Sabah met with Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Hamad Jaber Al-Ali Al-Sabah and other ministers.

The decision to resign was made after a number of Kuwaiti lawmakers filed a petition to question the Prime Minister on January 5.
Sabah al-Khalid al-Sabah has been Kuwait's Prime Minister since late 2019. The government's resignation must be approved by the King before a new Cabinet can be formed.
