The poem 'Love without words' by Truong Anh Tu is a silent and wise reflection on life. Or in other words, it is the incarnation of nature, the universe, and the sowing of life.

LOVE WITHOUT WORDS

Quiet rivers
Turn into the sea
Forget the leaf
Fall in spring.

Dewdrops are clear.
Form white clouds
Silent green grass
Grow up in the sky.

Just like love
Never lost
Giving is receiving
The circle of life is vast.

Quiet rivers
Turn into the sea
Forget the leaf
Fall in spring.
TRUONG ANH TU

Author Truong Anh Tu was born in 1967 in Hanoi, currently living and working in the Federal Republic of Germany. He has many poems and songs introduced in newspapers, magazines, radio, television... Up to now, he has published 3 poetry collections: "Emotions" (2007); "The seasons of flowers I say" (2018) and the bilingual poetry collection in Vietnamese and Polish "Hoa ban mai" (2021).

Poem "Love without words" printed in the collection "Hoa ban mai", G&P Publishing House ficynaWydawnicza Poznan - Poland. The poem has just been used as material for the official exam of literature - the city-level excellent student exam, school year 2024 - 2025 in Nha Trang.

At the beginning of the poem, we immediately “stumble” upon silence. It is the silence of the rivers and so on, the silence that extends throughout the poem. No, according to the title of the poem, it is “Love without words”… But according to the philosophy of the poem, this is not silence in the literal sense, but by thinking silently, we will “read” the silence full of wisdom about life. Or in other words, it is the incarnation of nature, the universe, the sowing of life.

The first verses pop up: “Quiet rivers/ Turn into oceans/ Forgetting leaves/ Falling back to spring”.It is the silence that “speaks” and breeds...

All things silently contribute, creating colorful springs for life, just like a river that diligently turns into an ocean.

The leaves fall in autumn, go through the cold winter and then the colorful spring will come. Thus, life is always renewed. Life (and death) are both an inevitable part of life. All things in the universe must follow a certain law of survival. Therefore, everyone should cherish life, by living well, dedicating themselves, then that is a meaningful life.

Truong Anh Tu's poetry is like that, very pure, innocent, simple and full of energy.

According to Truong Anh Tu: “Not only because of love for poetry, we write as people sowing seeds for love of life”. Therefore, each poem he writes carries a message or meaning about life and people. Nature and the universe in his poems are all “messengers” that convey those messages:"The pure dew drops/ Form white clouds/ Silent green grass/ Grows up to the sky and earth".

Yes, silence is useful, silence is like grass growing in the sky and earth. It is a miraculous transformation, but it is simple and gentle like life is like that.

The images the author mentions in the poem all carry the message that "beauty" will bloom. It is beauty and love that accompany people through all the ups and downs of life... Not noisy or grand, the things that the poem talks about and aims at are extremely simple, all around us, right before our eyes but not easy to see, easy to see, if we do not have a pure soul, "green" eyes and a tolerant, open look. Just like love.

Love still exists like the circle of life in the vastness of life.:“Like love/ Never lost/ Giving is receiving/ The circle of life is vast”. The philosophy of “giving is receiving” is a Buddhist philosophy, rich in humanity. And the love between people also exists forever. That is the beauty of love for people and life. Beauty will always flourish if we know how to feel, cherish and appreciate.

The final stanza of the poem repeats the first stanza as a consistency in the message of silence.

The poem “Love without words” by Truong Anh Tu is a beautiful, lovely poem, full of devoted love. Without noise or grandeur, from nature, plants, to people in the poem, are consistent in a philosophy of incarnation and dedication: giving and receiving.

This poem seems to bring hope to everyone. It is true that poetry sows beauty in life. As long as each person knows how to listen and feel every breath of life, beauty will bloom.
