Artisan Dinh Lam Toi and four colleagues stayed up all night carving a portrait of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to commemorate him.

Hearing the news of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's passing, artist Dinh Lam Toi was deeply moved.

"I have always admired General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong for his talent, virtue and tireless dedication to the country. Although I have never met him in person, through newspapers and images on the internet, I feel his sincerity, simplicity and dedication to the people. I want to use my small talent to create a worthy work of art, marking his mark in the hearts of the Vietnamese people" - the artist shared.

With that wish, artisan Dinh Lam Toi and four colleagues stayed up all night to complete the portrait of the General Secretary carved in copper, paying attention to every line and detail to express his demeanor.

To complete the painting, the first step is to bake the copper piece until it is soft, making it easier to carve. Then, the artisans transfer the spirit onto the copper piece, using a specialized pen to carve each line, from the nose, eyes, mouth...

"The artists must be really calm to be able to convey the General Secretary's spirit into the painting," said artist Dinh Lam Toi.

The style of portrait sculpture requires high technique, not only capturing the form but also expressing the character's demeanor, personality and spirit. With admiration for General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, artisan Dinh Lam Toi has created a captivating work, spreading emotions and strongly recalling the respected leader.

Many people asked to buy the painting but artist Dinh Lam Toi refused to sell it.

Artist Dinh Lam Toi said that although completing the painting was quite difficult, when he received many compliments online, all his fatigue disappeared.

Many people offered to buy the painting but artist Dinh Lam Toi refused.

"We want to keep it as a souvenir. The portrait is not only a work of art but also a symbol of love and gratitude for an outstanding leader of the nation," he said.

Artisan Dinh Lam Toi was born in 1985 in Dai Bai bronze carving village, Gia Binh district, Bac Ninh province. He has over 16 years of experience in bronze crafting, gold plating and gold plating handicrafts. In addition, he is also capable of sculpting portraits on bronze, a technique that requires meticulousness, patience and high artistic talent.
