Another Vietnamese Futsal referee recognized as senior referee

On the afternoon of July 18, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) announced that Futsal referee Huynh Nguyen Thanh has just been officially upgraded by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) to become a senior AFC Futsal referee. This is the second senior AFC Futsal referee in Vietnam, after referee Truong Quoc Dung, also from Ho Chi Minh City.

Thus, Vietnam currently has 50 Futsal referees, including 3 FIFA-level referees and 2 senior AFC referees.

Referee Huynh Nguyen Thanh has undergone 3 close assessments by instructors from AFC to be recognized as a senior AFC Futsal referee, specifically: Time 1 (October 27, 2022): Examination and assessment of the referee at the match between Thai Son Nam Club and Sahako Club in the second leg qualifying round of Phase II of the 2022 HDBank National Futsal Championship. The AFC instructor who directly assessed was Mr. Kim Jang Kwan (Korea).

2nd time (December 18, 2023): Checking and evaluating the referee at the match between Black Pearl United Club and Port ASM Gymnasium 6 Thammasat University Rangsit within the framework of the 2022 Thai National Futsal Championship. The AFC lecturer directly evaluating is Mr. Chan Siu Kee (Hong Kong, China).

3rd time (June 18, 2023): Checking and evaluating the referee at the match between Bangkok BTS FC and Port Futsal Club within the framework of the 2023 Thai National Futsal Championship. The AFC instructor directly evaluating is Mr. Adel MS Alshatti (Kuwait).

Referee Huynh Nguyen Thanh started refereeing for the Ho Chi Minh City Football Federation in 2009; then he attended the futsal referee training course and was appointed to the National Futsal Tournament in 2013. This referee also attended the FIFA and AFF futsal and beach soccer instructor course in 2021...

During his refereeing career, referee Huynh Nguyen Thanh has participated in officiating a number of international Futsal tournaments such as: Southeast Asian Futsal Club Championship in 2018 and 2019; Asian Futsal Championship - Southeast Asia region qualifying round in 2022 in Thailand; Participating in the referee team officiating the final match of the Southeast Asian Futsal Club Championship in 2023.
