APG submarine cable has problem for the fourth time this year

A representative of an Internet service provider (ISP) in Vietnam said that at 4:00 a.m. this morning, the APG international submarine cable had another problem.

This is the fourth time this year that APG has encountered a problem. Previously, in April, July and September, this cable line had "glitches". Of which, the problem occurred in mid-September 2022 on the S9 branch connecting to Singapore, which was only repaired on November 14.

This APG incident occurred on the S6 segment near Hong Kong (China). Currently, network operators in Vietnam have not been notified by the cable management unit about the cause or plan to handle and fix this incident.

Thus, currently, along with APG, there are two other submarine optical cable lines that are also having errors, namely AAG and AAE-1. The problems on these two cable lines have not yet been resolved.

Asia Pacific Gateway (APG), Asia America Gateway (AAG) and AAE-1 (Asia - Africa - Euro 1) are 3 of the 5 international submarine cable lines that account for the majority of Internet connection capacity from Vietnam to international destinations, along with 2 other lines including SMW3 (also known as SEA - ME - WE3) and Intra Asia (IA - Intra Asia).
