Warm dress for Tet

On the days leading up to the Lunar New Year, the whole family of Mr. Pham Van Dat in Yet Kieu commune (Gia Loc) gathered happily and joyfully in their new house. Mr. Dat said that he and his wife both work as factory workers, with low incomes while both parents are old and weak. Their monthly salary is only enough to support their 3 children's education and family expenses. The old house has been dilapidated for many years, but his family does not have enough money to build a new house.

In mid-2024, with the encouragement of relatives and trade unions at all levels, Mr. Dat boldly borrowed more money to build a new house on an area of 160 m2.2After 5 months of construction, the house was put into use to the joy of family members. The total construction cost was about 700 million VND, of which the Provincial Labor Federation supported Mr. Dat's family with 50 million VND.

"A new house is the desire of my whole family for many years. I thank the trade unions at all levels for always caring, encouraging and supporting my family. This is the motivation for us to continue to strive to work and produce," Mr. Dat shared.

In 2024, the Provincial Federation of Labor handed over 21 "Union Shelters" to union members and workers in difficult circumstances.

Union member Nguyen Thi Huyen (45 years old) in Lai Cach town (Cam Giang) has a very difficult situation, her husband passed away early when her 3 children were still in school age. Her family's biggest asset is an old house that has been dilapidated for many years. In 2024, the Union of Mascot Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Tan Truong Industrial Park) proposed to the superiors to support Ms. Huyen's family to build a house. From the "Union Shelter" Fund, the Provincial Labor Federation donated 50 million VND to Ms. Huyen to build a new house.

Speaking at the handover ceremony of the "Union Shelter" house, Ms. Huyen was moved because her long-time wish had come true. With the new place, she and her children no longer have to worry or stay awake all night because of storms.

"The house was built with the love and support of the family and the trade union. For more than 20 years, this is the first time we have had such a complete and warm Lunar New Year," said Ms. Huyen.

Settling down

Nearly 10 years ago, Ninh Xuan Thach and his wife started working at Ebara Pump Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Hai Duong City). In the early difficult days, his family had to live in a rented house of about 30 m2.2. Their lives were lacking in every way. Thanks to their diligence and hard work, the couple was able to save some money. In 2024, Mr. Thach decided to borrow money to buy land and build a house in Viet Hoa ward (Hai Duong city).

"With the attention and support of the trade union at all levels, my family has completed a small house with a budget of about 400 million VND. Now that we have a stable place to live, we can focus on working and educating our children. We hope that the trade union organization will continue to implement many "Trade Union Shelters" to help union members and workers settle down and have a good life," said Mr. Thach.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan Anh, Vice President of the Provincial Federation of Labor, said that with the support of union members and trade unions at all levels, the unit has promptly supported many union members and workers in difficult housing situations, helping them to improve their lives and work with peace of mind. In 2024, the unit donated 21 "Union Shelters" with a total cost of nearly 1 billion VND. The projects handed over and put into use have helped union members and workers settle down and create a competitive atmosphere for labor production. In the coming time, the Provincial Federation of Labor will continue to spread the program, contributing with all levels and sectors to successfully implement the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses...
