On October 29, at Soongsil University in Seoul, the Vietnamese Student Association in Korea (VSAK) organized the 16th Vietnamese Student Festival in Korea.
The Vietnamese Student Festival in Korea is an important and meaningful annual event, aimed at the entire Vietnamese student community in Korea. Attending the event were Vietnamese Ambassador to Korea Nguyen Vu Tung, former Vietnamese Ambassador to Korea Pham Tien Van, Chairman of Hanshin Company Choi Yong Sun, President of Soongsil University Jang Beom Sik, along with many guests and nearly 1,000 Vietnamese students studying in Korea.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Tran Hung - Chairman of VSAK - emphasized: “This year's Student Festival promises to bring a space imbued with Vietnamese culture to Korea. Coming to the festival, students have the opportunity to exchange, share and connect in all aspects of cultural and social life. Not only that, students can also freely express and awaken their talents, express their passion and aspirations, dispel the pressure and fatigue after stressful hours of studying or tiring moments of work”.
This year’s event is an opportunity for Vietnamese students at Vietnamese student associations at universities across Korea to participate in showcasing their talents in genres such as dance, singing, and modern dance. In addition to the talent competition, the event also offers fun folk games, and is also an opportunity to honor and reward individuals and groups with excellent academic achievements and positive contributions to social activities launched by the Embassy and the Vietnamese Student Association in Korea.
In his welcoming speech, Ambassador Nguyen Vu Tung emphasized: “Vietnam-Korea relations are developing well in all areas of politics, economics, security - defense, culture and people-to-people exchange. In particular, the comprehensive strategic partnership is creating a foundation for the two countries to continue developing cooperation in the coming years. The Student Festival will contribute to strengthening people-to-people exchange, contributing to fostering the Vietnam-Korea relationship. The Vietnamese Embassy in Korea always accompanies organizers, sponsors and students in this process.”
As usual, the main sponsor - Hanshin Company - continues to support 10 scholarships worth 10 million won in total for excellent Vietnamese students. 18 years ago, since 2005, with the cooperation and support of Hanshin, the Vietnam Student Day event began to be held annually, and has now become an important event in the Vietnamese student community in Korea. Not stopping there, Hanshin also sponsors the organization of the annual event, the Vietnam Alumni Day in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
In their speeches, Chairman of Hanshin Choi Yong Sun and former Ambassador Pham Tien Van recalled the beautiful memories since the first day of the event held 18 years ago on the occasion of Vietnam's National Day. Mr. Choi Yong Sun expressed his joy that the relationship between the Korean Government and the Vietnamese Government has increasingly developed into a deep and inseparable friendship in economic and cultural aspects, including the important contribution of Vietnamese students studying abroad.
In this vibrant and warm atmosphere of friendship, Mr. Choi Yong Sun pledged: “Hanshin Group will continue to make efforts to further develop this event and hopes that this will be a people-to-people exchange event symbolizing the friendship between the two countries.”
The Vietnamese Student Festival in Korea has been contributing significantly to the development of students - the young generation that plays an important role in the relationship and development of Vietnam and Korea. This is also the foundation for creating a generation of talented students, firmly following the tradition of VSAK, continuing to promote the development of the Vietnamese student community in Korea.
