Saigon Commercial Joint Stock Bank (SCB) has just announced that it will continue to close a number of transaction offices, bringing the total number of transaction offices that have been terminated to 142.
According to the latest announcement, this bank decided to terminate the operations of 3 transaction offices.
Specifically, the Ba Ria Transaction Office, belonging to the Vung Tau Branch (No. 52-54 Nguyen Huu Tho Street, Ba Ria City, Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province), will cease operations from January 9. The Phuoc Hai Transaction Office, belonging to the SCB Khanh Hoa Branch (No. 118 Thich Quang Duc Street, Phuoc Hai Ward, Nha Trang City, Khanh Hoa Province), will cease operations from January 11. The Gia Phu Transaction Office, belonging to the Binh Tay Branch (address No. 4-6 Hau Giang Street, Ward 2, District 6, Ho Chi Minh City), will cease operations from January 11. All rights and transactions of customers at these transaction offices are fully implemented at SCB's transaction points.
SCB began closing a series of transaction points from June 2023. At one point, the bank announced the termination of operations of up to 15-16 transaction offices in just one month.
142 SCB transaction offices have had to close since the Van Thinh Phat scandal took place at the end of 2022.
SCB, formerly known as Que Do Commercial Joint Stock Bank, was established in 1992 in Ho Chi Minh City. In 2003, it was renamed Saigon Commercial Joint Stock Bank (SCB).
At the end of 2011, SCB merged with two commercial banks: First Bank and Vietnam Tin Nghia Bank. After merging the three banks, SCB had 241 transaction offices.
