The Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) has just approved the investment report and contractor selection plan for the automatic toll collection project applied at 5 airports including: Noi Bai, Cat Bi, Da Nang, Phu Bai and Tan Son Nhat.

After selecting a contractor and signing a contract within the year, ACV said the equipment system will be installed after 180 days.

In addition, ACV plans to invest more than VND214 billion from the development investment fund to modernize and synchronize existing collection systems at the ports. This system helps reduce traffic congestion at airport entrances and exits, creating convenience for customers and improving the quality of passenger service.

With the foundation of millions of cars that have been affixed with ETC tags (from VETC or VDTC), the Ministry of Transport will build an integrated non-stop toll collection system at the airport, which can use the road ETC card to pass through the airport toll lane without having to affix an additional tag or incur additional procedures.

After one month of launching the new version in the form of an e-Wallet for customers using the non-stop toll collection service (ETC), VETC Automatic Toll Collection Company Limited (VETC) said that the VETC e-Wallet application has recorded nearly 1 million downloads and about 250,000 uses to pay for non-stop toll collection services, cashless payment for gasoline, E-Tag exchange service, money transfer between VETC wallets...

Recognizing that the potential of the ETC industry is still very large, Mr. Nguyen Le Thang, Deputy General Director of VETC, said that the implementation of non-stop toll collection at airports is assessed by the Ministry of Transport as an important step in the entire process of converting current airports into smart ones and more broadly, moving closer to the goal of smart cities (collecting fees for seaports, parking lots, inspection fees, etc.).

In the near future, VETC application users can also soon fully use payment services developed by VETC such as car insurance, financial overdraft...

According to statistics, each day, Noi Bai and Tan Son Nhat airports have 16,000-20,000 vehicles passing through toll stations. The organization of toll collection for cars entering and leaving the airport is still manual, drivers have to stop in front of the toll station to get a card and pay cash at the exit, which can easily lead to congestion, especially during peak times and holidays.

ACV collects service fees for vehicles picking up and dropping off passengers at two airport groups. For Tan Son Nhat, Noi Bai, and Da Nang, vehicles entering and leaving within 10 minutes each time will be charged 10,000 VND for vehicles with less than 9 seats, 15,000 VND for vehicles with 10-30 seats, and 25,000 VND for vehicles with 30 seats or more.

During this time, the remaining airports charge 5,000 VND for cars with less than 9 seats, 10,000 VND for cars with 10-16 seats, 15,000 VND for cars with 16-29 seats, and 25,000 VND for cars with 30 seats or more. Cars entering the airport for more than 10 minutes will be charged an additional parking service fee.
