National Assembly approves Minister of Public Security Luong Tam Quang

Senior Lieutenant General Luong Tam Quang, Deputy Minister of Public Security, has just been officially approved by the National Assembly to be appointed as Minister of Public Security for the 2021-2026 term.

On the afternoon of June 6, the National Assembly officially passed a resolution approving the appointment of Senior Lieutenant General Luong Tam Quang, Deputy Minister of Public Security, to the position of Minister of Public Security for the 2021-2026 term.

Previously, on June 3, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Duy Ngoc, Deputy Minister of Public Security, was assigned by the Politburo to hold the position of Chief of the Party Central Office.

Senior Lieutenant General Luong Tam Quang was born in 1965 in Luong Xa village, Hiep Cuong commune, Kim Dong district, Hung Yen province; he has a bachelor's degree in criminal investigation. His career began in the security sector, where he held the positions of Head of the Economic Security Department, Deputy Head of the General Economic Security Department. He later became Assistant to the Deputy Minister of Public Security, Deputy Chief of Office, then Chief of Office and Spokesperson of the Ministry of Public Security.

In 2019, he held the position of Deputy Minister of Public Security and Head of the Ministry of Public Security's Security Investigation Agency. In January 2022, he was promoted to the rank of Senior Lieutenant General. In January 2021, Mr. Quang was elected to the 13th Party Central Committee for the first time, at the age of 56.

Since the beginning of the 7th Session of the 15th National Assembly, the National Assembly has carried out personnel work by electing National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and President To Lam.

The National Assembly adjusted the program for the first time on the afternoon of May 21, agreeing to add content to approve the Prime Minister's proposal to dismiss General To Lam from the position of Minister of Public Security.

General To Lam was elected as President on the morning of May 22. On the same day, the National Assembly passed a resolution approving the Prime Minister's proposal to relieve General To Lam from his position as Minister of Public Security. Senior Lieutenant General Tran Quoc To, Deputy Minister of Public Security, was assigned by the Prime Minister to manage the operations of the Ministry of Public Security until the competent authority completes the position of Minister of Public Security according to regulations.

Currently, the Ministry of Public Security has four Deputy Ministers: Senior Lieutenant General Tran Quoc To and three Lieutenant Generals: Le Quoc Hung, Nguyen Van Long, and Le Van Tuyen.
